Bellatrix Wall Lamp

Design

Bellatrix interprets the wall lamp as a luminous element that straddles the boundary between furniture, sculpture, and artistic installation. The large circular disc is not treated as a perfectly flat and uniform surface. The manual process introduces reliefs and irregularities that make the light deeper and more dynamic, avoiding a regular and predictable reflection. The light source is not placed at the center of the composition. Nine LED boards are integrated into a thin brass rod, positioned in front of the golden surface. The light is directed toward the disc and reflected into the room, leaving the source hidden from view and contributing to lighting comfort.

A handcrafted golden surface

The disc is made of aluminum with an irregular surface, then covered in gold leaf. The artisanal craftsmanship lends the surface a vibrant character. The leaf adheres to the disc's varying depths and reacts to light with brighter areas, delicate shadows, and warm reflections. The back of the disc is finished in blue, while the wall base is white. These chromatic elements introduce unexpected details, generally subtle when viewed from the front but perceptible when viewed from the side.

Indirect light and visual comfort

The LED sources are directed toward the golden surface rather than directly at the room. The light strikes the disc, is reflected by the gold-colored leaf, and diffuses into the space with a warm, enveloping hue. The absence of a directly visible glare makes the lighting particularly comfortable. The irregularity of the surface also prevents flat reflections. The light is fragmented and distributed through numerous variations, generating an atmospheric effect that changes depending on the intensity setting and the viewing angle. The lighting system is integrated into a 10 mm diameter brass rod.
