Fragile Table Lamp

Design

Jaume Ramírez's starting point is the traditional table lamp: a recognizable object in which a lampshade distributes light into the surrounding space. Fragile retains this memory, but reduces its language to three elementary geometric shapes. An upper cone and a central sphere are arranged around a vertical luminous cylinder, creating a composition that appears to be naturally supported.

Blown Glass

The Fragile diffuser is made of blown glass, a material central to the very meaning of the project. The base is made of methacrylate. The glass allows the lamp to interact directly with its surroundings. The walls, furnishings, and natural light remain perceptible through the structure, preventing the lamp's bulk from becoming a visually overwhelming presence. Transparency also makes the central light source clearly visible. Rather than concealing the technology, Fragile incorporates it into the composition, making it the protagonist.

Light from the bottom up

One of Fragile's distinctive features is the way its light is generated. The dimmable LED source extends vertically within the central cylinder and illuminates from the bottom up, recalling the principle of ancient oil lamps and candles. The light emitted passes through the glass geometries without encountering a traditional opaque lampshade. The cylinder, instead, contributes to a progressive and diffused light, creating an intimate atmosphere around the lamp. The ability to adjust the intensity allows the lamp's character to be modified without altering its warm tone. The result is above all an ambient light: Fragile was not designed as a technical fixture to brightly illuminate a work surface, but as a luminous presence capable of discreetly accompanying a room.
