Chimera Floor Lamp

Design

Chimera is born from a simple design approach: shaping a flat surface until it becomes a three-dimensional volume permeated by light. The profile is defined by a succession of broad, continuous curves, which give the lamp movement without the need for additional decoration. The shape subtly changes depending on the viewing angle, alternating solids, recesses, and luminous overlaps. The sculptural appearance does not compromise the simplicity of the composition. Each curve derives from the structure of the diffuser itself and contributes to the distribution of light. Form and function coincide in a project in which the material is used with immediacy and coherence.

Materials

The lamp's defining element is the opal methacrylate sheet, shaped to create its characteristic wavy profile. The semi-transparent surface shields the light source and reduces the direct perception of the luminous components. The light passes through the material and highlights its curves, creating brighter areas alternating with softer, deeper passages.

Diffused and filtered light

Chimera produces a diffused and filtered emission. The light is distributed along the entire height of the diffuser, transforming the lamp into a uniform luminous presence rather than a simple, concentrated light source. The curves of the methacrylate modulate the emission and generate subtle variations in intensity. The surface thus appears to come alive from within, highlighting the depth and movement of the profile, creating a highly atmospheric light. The current Chimera LED version integrates a 41W source, with a luminous flux of 3,300 lumens and a color temperature of 2,700K. The warm tone creates a welcoming atmosphere and enhances materials such as wood, fabrics, marble, and metallic finishes. The CRI 90 color rendering index allows it to accurately reproduce the colors of furnishings and surrounding surfaces.

Versatility and ambiance

In the living room, Chimera can be placed next to a sofa, an armchair, or near a free-standing wall. The diffused light creates a relaxing atmosphere, while the wavy profile becomes an integral part of the furnishing composition. In the bedroom, it can complement a reading nook or illuminate a relaxation area. Placed in an entryway, it adds an immediately visible, dramatic presence and contributes to a more welcoming space. Its sculptural shape and white finish also make it suitable for lounges, reception areas, boutiques, suites, and refined hospitality environments. Chimera is designed for indoor use and has an IP20 rating.
