Matassa Bookcase

Design

Matassa takes its name directly from the principle that defines its design: thin lines wrap around the shelves, creating a seemingly spontaneous structure, yet constructed according to a precise compositional balance. Luigi Semeraro’s design uses iron rods as graphic marks in space. The structure weaves through and around the shelves, generating a sequence of solids and voids that visually lightens the bookcase, lending it an original, contemporary character.

Materials and Finishes

The iron-rod structure is available in the many lacquered finishes from the Miniforms collection, allowing Matassa to be rendered in neutral tones or more striking, distinctive colors. The option to combine a colored frame with wooden shelves makes it possible to create either monochromatic configurations or bold, material-based contrasts.

Functionality and Versatility

Matassa features a series of open shelves perfect for housing books, decorative objects, ceramics, and small accessories, keeping them visible and easily accessible. Its open structure allows light to pass through freely, making it well-suited not only for placement against a wall but also for arrangements where maintaining a light, airy visual perception of the space is key.

Versatility and Adaptability

With its compact proportions and vertical orientation, Matassa fits seamlessly into living rooms, home offices, dining areas, or contract spaces. The graphic language of its structure allows it to function either as a simple storage unit or as a prominent decorative feature—especially when a lacquered finish is chosen to contrast with the wooden shelves.
