Knoll's Cesca stool brings the unmistakable style of the chair designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928 to counter and bar heights. The cantilevered tubular steel frame, the lightness of the woven cane, and the contrast between industrial and natural materials define an elegant, minimalist, and surprisingly contemporary chair.

Details and Measures
Design
Cesca stands out for its design simplicity, constructed through a few essential elements: straight lines balanced by soft curves, a continuous metal frame, and a visually light seat and backrest. The cantilevered frame eliminates traditional rear legs, creating the sensation of the chair floating in space. The tubular steel also leverages a natural elasticity that introduces a slight flex during use, contributing to comfort. In the stool version, Knoll maintains these principles by adapting the proportions to the counter and bar heights and integrating a footrest into the structure.
Marcel Breuer and the Cesca Legacy
The Cesca collection is based on the famous chair designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928, originally known as the B32 and later renamed in honor of the designer's daughter, Francesca. The project stems from Breuer's research into the possibilities offered by tubular metal, a material that combined lightness, strength, and industrial production. The cantilevered structure thus became one of the most representative elements of the modern language and experimentation associated with the Bauhaus. The stool maintains this identity intact, reinterpreting the Cesca's proportions to adapt them to new ways of experiencing the kitchen, dining area, and social spaces.
Versatility and Ambience
In the kitchen, Cesca Counter can be arranged along an island or peninsula, where the open structure maintains a visually light composition even when multiple seats are present. The Bar version is ideal for counters, home bars, and high tables. The contrast between steel and cane interacts with marble, stone, wood, and stainless steel surfaces, making the stool easily adaptable to both modernist and contemporary projects. Its strong design identity and two available heights make the stool suitable for restaurants, lounges, bistros, hotels, offices, and refined hospitality spaces.
