Butter Storage Cabinet

Design

Butter continues Faye Toogood's exploration of soft shapes, essential volumes, and objects capable of establishing an immediate connection with their users. The unit is constructed with an open structure, composed of three horizontal levels connected by vertical dividers. The rounded edges soften the geometric character of the composition, while the different protrusions of the shelves introduce a light, irregular movement. The upper and lower shelves extend laterally with curved ends, defining a silhouette that changes depending on the perspective. The central shelf also extends beyond the profile of the structure, transforming a simple low bookcase into a small architectural element.

An open and dynamic composition

The alternation of solids and voids gives Butter a visually light feel and allows you to display objects without separating them from the surrounding space. The open compartments can hold books, magazines, ceramics, small vases, and decorative accessories. The central dividers organize the surface and create different display areas, avoiding the uniform effect of traditional shelving. The asymmetrical composition also allows the protruding parts of the shelves to be used as additional support surfaces, showcasing objects that require more space or that you want to highlight.

Functionality and display freedom

Butter interprets storage in an open and relational way. It does not hide objects behind doors or drawers, but transforms them into an integral part of the domestic composition. The structure can be freely organized and modified over time, reflecting changes in the environment and habits. Books, photographs, and personal memories thus create an ever-changing scenography, capable of expressing the identity of those who inhabit the space. The upper shelf also offers a continuous surface on which to place table lamps, decorative works, or natural elements, expanding the furniture's potential uses. The frame is made of lacquered MDF, a material that allows for seamless surfaces, soft edges, and a uniform color finish.

Versatility and Ambiance

In the living room, Butter can be placed against a wall, next to a sofa, or behind a conversation area. Its refined shape and open structure also allow it to be used in a more free-standing position, as a small room divider. In an entryway, it can hold books, lamps, and decorative objects, while in the bedroom it can be used as a low cabinet or compact bookcase. The combination of compact dimensions and a wide range of colors also makes it suitable for boutiques, suites, lounges, reception areas, and refined hospitality environments.
