Captivated by the potential of plastic, the designer Verner Panton aimed to create a comfortable chair made of one piece which could be used anywhere. Verner came into contact with Vitra in 1963: together they designed the Panton Chair, presented for the very first time in 1967 receiving numerous prizes. The classic version is made of rigid polyurethane foam in glossy lacquer finish. Only since 1999 it has been possible to produce the chair following the original idea: durable, dyed-through polypropylene with a matte finish. It is possible to use the chair individually or in combination, also in outdoor spaces: however, it is not recommended to expose the chair to sunlight for prolonged periods, as the colour may change over time.
