The Colonna coffee table by Tacchini, designed by Roberto Sironi, reinterprets the architectural archetype of the column through a prismatic, essential, and sculptural form. The shaped mirrored glass covering fragments and multiplies the image of the space, while the marble top introduces the depth and uniqueness of natural stone.

Design
Colonna is born from Roberto Sironi's research on the boundary between functional object, sculpture, and micro-architecture. The designer takes one of the fundamental elements of architectural language as a reference and reduces it to a rigorous domestic symbol, capable of fitting into the space without losing its symbolic power. The form does not literally reproduce a classical column. The archetype is subjected to a process of abstraction: the prismatic section, the reflective vertical surfaces, and the stone top transform the volume into a contemporary and minimalist presence. The coffee table thus becomes a meeting point between architectural memory and everyday gesture, offering a support surface that retains the character of a small sculptural object.
Prismatic Structure and Reflective Surfaces
The outer structure is covered in shaped mirrored glass, arranged in vertical panels that follow the faceted geometry of the base. Unlike a continuous mirrored surface, the succession of different layers does not create a single, uniform image. Each face reflects a different portion of the space, breaking down the space into fragments of light, color, and movement. The table thus appears to change throughout the day. Natural light lightens its volume, while artificial lighting can intensify the reflections and emphasize the vertical rhythm of the surfaces.
Versatility and Ambiance
In the living room, Colonna can be placed next to an armchair or in front of a sofa. The mirrored surface reflects fabrics, rugs, and upholstery, making the table particularly sensitive to the color scheme of the room. In a bedroom, the tall version can be used as a sculptural bedside table. In an entryway or along a wide hallway, it can hold a decorative object while maintaining a compact footprint. The iconic character and quality of its materials make Colonna also suitable for suites, lounges, boutiques, reception areas, and refined hospitality spaces.
