Bibliothèque Nationale interprets the floor lamp as a multifunctional element, suspended between light, furniture, and storytelling. The design evokes the image of a fairytale library, where books seem to rise toward the light source and organize themselves around the central stem. Philippe Starck's signature is evident in his ability to transform a technical object into a playful and sophisticated presence. The name itself introduces an ironic reference to the French national library, confirming the lamp's cultured and unconventional nature.
Comfort and functionality
The lamp diffuses a soft, enveloping light, suitable for creating atmosphere in the living room, bedroom, study, or reading area. The included dimmer allows you to adjust the light intensity as needed, from a more functional light to a more relaxing one. The three cantilevered shelves rotate around the stem and offer practical storage for books, small decorative objects, devices, or personal accessories. The integrated USB port adds a useful feature to contemporary living, allowing you to charge electronic devices directly from the lamp.
Materials and finishes
The base, support rod, and diffuser support are made of chrome-plated die-cast zamak, with a steel base cover. The internal diffuser and lamp holder are made of injection-molded opal polycarbonate, chosen for uniform light distribution. The external diffuser is available in various finishes: PVC fabric, transparent or smoked gray methacrylate, or silver or bronze internal finishes obtained through vacuum metallization. The upper ring, made of transparent injection-molded polycarbonate, is completed with stainless steel brackets.
