The Fauteuil Direction armchair by Vitra, designed by Jean Prouvé, combines comfort, structural precision, and a minimalist aesthetic. Designed for the dining room, home office, and domestic workspaces, it interprets the upholstered chair through Prouvé's signature design language, in which every formal element stems from a clear constructive function.

Worldwide shipping
Standard shipping is free on orders from 250€ (Italy only) and applies to ground-level delivery. Worldwide shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

Fauteuil Direction reflects Jean Prouvé's rational and structural approach. The steel base, composed of press-formed sheet metal and powder-coated tubular steel, defines a solid and graphic structure, while the upholstered seat introduces a more welcoming and domestic feel. The solid wood armrests add material warmth to the composition and create a refined contrast with the metal base. The result is an armchair with a simple yet recognizable character, suitable for contemporary interiors, professional studios, and sophisticated living spaces.
Comfort and functionality
The seat and backrest are padded with recyclable V-Foam polyurethane, designed to offer balanced comfort during daily use. The upholstery is available in fabric or leather, with a selection of colors that allows the chair to adapt to different furnishing styles. The seat height is 505 mm, while it measures 445 mm with a load applied according to the EN 1335-1:2000 standard. This proportion makes the Direction Chair suitable for both dining areas and home office seating.
