The Barrel armchair by Minotti, designed by GamFratesi, reinterprets the imagery of the 1970s through an organic, enveloping, and highly sculptural form. The soft lines create a full, recognizable volume, while the tubular metal frame remains intentionally visible, following the silhouette of the seat and transforming a structural element into one of the project's key aesthetic signatures.

Details and Measures
Design
Barrel is born from the encounter between retro memories and contemporary language. GamFratesi revisits the formal freedom and plasticity typical of 1970s design, but eliminates any nostalgic elements to create a contemporary, essential, and sophisticated armchair. The padded volume has a powerful, almost sculptural presence, yet is visually interwoven with the lightness of the metal structure. This relationship between solids and voids allows the armchair to assert itself in the space without appearing static or overly massive.
Tubular Structure
The most distinctive element of the design is the tubular metal frame with a cantilevered structure. The metal follows the profile of the armchair with a clean, dynamic line, remaining deliberately exposed. It is therefore not a support hidden beneath the padding, but a visual component that defines Barrel's identity. The cantilevered configuration also allows the seat to develop a slight elastic effect, contributing to a more natural comfort..
Perimeter Padding
Barrel's silhouette is defined by a rounded, padded element with a constant cross-section that runs along the entire perimeter. Starting from the back, this volume envelops the seat and follows the shape of the armchair with a continuous, fluid movement. This solution accentuates the feeling of protection and makes the armchair visually welcoming even before sitting down. The padded edge does not appear as a simple, attached armrest, but as a continuous line that constructs the entire shell.
Versatility and ambiance
In the living room, Barrel can be placed next to a sofa with clean lines to introduce a more organic and sculptural form. In eclectic settings, it naturally pairs with furniture and accessories from different eras, while in minimalist settings, it can become the primary accent piece. Its strong personality and enveloping comfort also make Barrel suitable for lounges, suites, reception areas, and refined hospitality projects.
