The German brand brings together a passion for classic design and contemporary objects. With ClassiCon, modernist works find new life in today’s interiors, showing a strong sense of stylistic relevance and everyday versatility. This confirms their long established role as pioneers. Alongside these icons, established and emerging contemporary designers develop their ideas in the spirit of ClassiCon, constantly exploring new ground.

The timeless appeal of ClassiCon armchairs

The ClassiCon armchairs collection spans more than a century of design history, from 1926 to the present.

The designs created by Eileen Gray in the 20th century still feel strikingly new today, both in their design approach and in the boldness of their forms. Her armchairs are among the rare examples where tubular steel is successfully combined with the comfort of an upholstered chair. The Bonaparte armchair, for example, features a wide, comfortable seat and backrest that appear to float, supported by a steel frame. The Non Conformist armchair follows a similar structure, but introduces asymmetric armrests that allow greater freedom of movement. An idea that seems simple at first glance, yet was extremely daring. From the same family of Eileen Gray upholstered pieces comes the Bibendum armchair, harmonious despite its generous proportions and instantly recognizable shapes inspired by the Michelin Man.

Among the ClassiCon armchairs designed by contemporary designers, the Munich and Munich Lounge armchairs stand out for their elegant, retro character and exceptional durability, as they were designed by architects Sauerbruch Hutton specifically for the public spaces of the Brandhorst Museum in Munich.
