Venini vases, synonymous with refined luxury

Venini was founded in the early 1920s with an identity built on groundbreaking ideas, an interest in the avant-garde, and a deep understanding of the traditional techniques of Murano’s master glassmakers. Even today, Venini stands out for its vases crafted according to tradition, yet always original and instantly recognizable.

Over the years, every project and collaboration with leading architects and designers have left their mark on Venini’s identity. Collaborations with Alessandro Mendini, Gae Aulenti, Ettore Sottsass, and Mario Bellini, to name just a few, have given rise to lighting and decorative works that have helped define Venini’s status as a producer of luxury artisanal vases resulting from experimentation and research.

Craftsmanship, new forms, and colors: the main characteristics of Venini vases

Every Venini vase comes from a treasured legacy of precise processes and gestures, which have been repeated for centuries to create delicate glass works. Whether reviving traditional techniques or experimenting, Venini crafts its glass objects using some of the most refined techniques in artisanal glassmaking, from which its most iconic vases are born.

The balloton technique, for example, involves the use of a metal mold with pyramid-shaped spikes on the inner surface. Once blown into the mold, the glass “fills” the voids, creating a quilted effect. This technique gave rise to the famous Monofiori Balloton vase, available in a wide variety of colors. The fascinating mano volante technique involves a rapid movement by the master glassmaker, who shapes the glass freehand. This process gives rise to the Fazzoletto vase, in which the glass appears soft and whose shape resembles a light fabric.

How can you recognize an original Venini vase? All vases are signed with an engraving of the brand name and the date of production on the rim or bottom of the vase. Ciat Design is an authorized Venini retailer: you will find only originals in our online shop.
