LC14 Tabouret Nantes Rezé is the versatile furnishing accessory with a minimal style created in 1959 by Le Corbusier and produced by Cassina. Direct evolution of the original model, the Tabouret Cabanon designed for the famous Le Corbusier shed on the French Riviera, the Tabouret Nantes Rezé is similar in size, but has obvious simplifications. First of all, the joints between the oak panels are orthogonal and no longer dovetail, moreover the practical cracks present on the faces are no longer smoothed and smooth, but sharp and squared. The natural solid wood of the two previous models is abandoned in favor of an open-pore lacquered surface with two colors of the Le Corbusier palette: blue and brown. These changes have been implemented according to the canons of "L'object trouvé", a philosophy very dear to the Swiss designer in the last period of his activity, which aims to re-evaluate the objects that can be commonly found, even on the street. The name is due to the project that Le Corbusier developed for the children's rooms of the Unité d'habitation of Nantes Rezé, a building that still exists today and inserted in 2001 by the French Ministry of Culture as a historical monument.
