Still Mirror

Design

Still was born from the observation of the calm surface of Alpine lakes and the desire to transform immobility into an active visual state. The project interprets glass as a constantly changing material. When heated to high temperatures, the material softens and is shaped through controlled processes; once it returns to its solid state, it retains traces of that movement within its surface. The frame thus appears stable, yet simultaneously suggests a slow flow. Its undulating perimeter accompanies the central mirror without enclosing it in a perfectly regular geometry, creating a sculptural presence that changes depending on the light and the vantage point.

Fused Glass Frame

The frame is made of 6 mm fused glass and back-silvered, while the central section is made of a 5 mm thick flat mirror. Fused glass creates a three-dimensional surface characterized by undulations, variations in depth, and flowing edges. The subsequent silvering also makes the frame reflective, visually enlarging the mirror surface and introducing slight distortions along the perimeter. The smooth surface ensures a clear and functional reflection, balancing the more dynamic character of the frame. This distinction allows Still to be used daily without sacrificing its decorative identity. The contrast between the precision of the central mirror and the fluidity of the fused glass creates a balanced composition: the image remains clear in the center, while it is progressively transformed by the material along the edge.

Versatility and Ambience

In the entrance hall, Still welcomes those who enter with a large and dramatic reflective surface. The fused glass frame captures natural light and helps visually deepen the space. In the living room, it can be placed above a sideboard or on a freestanding wall, where it reflects furnishings, artwork, and light sources, transforming them into a flexible composition. The full-length rectangular version is ideal for bedrooms, walk-in closets, and dressing areas. The square and round models can become striking decorative features in living rooms, dining rooms, entryways, and reception areas. The quality of the glass, the generous scale, and the choice of standard, smoked, and bronze finishes make Still also suitable for boutiques, suites, lounges, reception areas, and refined hospitality spaces.
