Since the 1960s, Ingo Maurer has designed and created unique and original lamps that represent a synthesis of art and functional elegance, handcrafted with artisanal care by a team of over fifty people. The German designer’s work often features the use of recycled or humble materials for designs that are never mundane and always manage to surprise. Every Ingo Maurer lamp tells the story of a fantastical world, with objects and elements that subvert the rules.

Among his best-known lamps are the Bulb table lamp, consisting of a large light bulb-shaped lamp holder, and the Lucellino lamp, featuring a light bulb that romantically takes flight on its wings.

Ingo Maurer: the chandelier as an art form

Ingo Maurer’s suspension lamps are never mere light fixtures; they are stories told through surprising forms that blend elegantly and playfully into any setting. Each design is strongly defined by its lines or the materials used, in a collection where no two lamps are ever alike.

One of the hallmarks of the brand’s production is the use of recycled materials: this is the case with the famous Campari Light and Canned Light pendant lamps. The Campari Light chandelier is made up of 10 original Campari Soda bottles, a combination of plastic and metal, arranged in a circle to form a lampshade perfect for a bar area or eclectic spaces. The Canned Light chandelier, on the other hand, draws inspiration from a Pop Art icon: Andy Warhol’s famous Campbell’s soup can takes on a new meaning once again and is transformed into a lamp.

Other famous designs include the Birdie pendant lamp, composed of 12 light bulbs that radiate from a central body with hand-shaped metal wires. Each bulb takes flight with its delicate white wings, lending dynamism to the composition. The Lacrime del Pescatore lamp is a highly decorative piece, composed of three nylon nets featuring 385 crystals, with a separate light source. Another of the brand’s bestsellers is the Zettel’z 5 chandelier, featuring floating sheets of Japanese paper that can be used to jot down messages or drawings, transforming the lamp into a unique and personal object.
