Carlos Wood Sideboard

Design and Artistic Inspiration

The Carlos Wood sideboard by Horm was created as a tribute to the chromatic research of Carlos Cruz-Diez. The front surfaces change perception based on the light and the vantage point, creating a dynamic dialogue between object and observer. In the version with a mocha-stained beech body, the natural grain and pores of the wood remain visible beneath the finish, adding material depth and a warm expressiveness to the rigorous composition.

Materials and Workmanship

The structure is made of particleboard panels with a wood veneer. The doors are made of honeycomb MDF with internal metal reinforcements, veneered in heat-treated oak and milled vertically to accommodate full-color white laminate inserts. Inside, the clear tempered glass shelves ensure functionality and visual lightness. The 2 cm high thermoplastic feet discreetly raise the piece off the floor.
