The Anamon Parasol, designed by Kris Van Puyvelde, draws inspiration from a deeply evocative natural phenomenon: the movement of sea anemones observed while diving. This experience gave rise to a project that reinterprets the umbrella as a living organism, capable of opening with the same grace as a blooming flower. The result is an object that combines organic aesthetics and technical innovation in a single sculptural presence.
Structure and Engineering
The entire system is enclosed within an elegant and minimalist vertical column, concealing the mechanisms and canopy. The umbrella opens via a crank that activates a fluid and dramatic movement, gradually revealing the umbrella's structure without any visible elements. This solution highlights the project's formal purity and engineering complexity, defined as true organic engineering.
Lighting and Functionality
Anamon features an integrated LED light ring with three intensity levels and a warm white color temperature of 2700K. The system is powered by a USB-C rechargeable battery with an IP55 rating. Battery life varies from 6 to 12 hours depending on the selected brightness level, making it ideal for evening and nighttime use.
