Par 18 Wall Lamp

Design

Par 18 is born from the encounter between elementary geometry and an irregular surface. The rectangular base and thin metal element define a rigorous structure, while the glass sphere introduces transparency, refractions, and an instantly recognizable artisanal touch. The diffuser is not conceived as a perfectly uniform volume. Its texture is composed of a succession of reliefs and recesses that are deliberately ironic and reminiscent of the surface of a golf ball. This design prevents light from passing through the glass in a completely regular pattern. Every variation in the surface intercepts the LED's emission and contributes to creating reflections, shadows, and subtle light distortions.

Irregular Blown Glass

The sphere is crafted from irregular, transparent blown glass by Bohemian master glassmakers, using a texture specifically designed by Catellani & Smith. The process preserves the transparency of the glass, leaving the light source visible and maintaining a subtle presence on the wall. At the same time, the three-dimensional surface makes the diffuser actively distribute the light. When the lamp is off, the glass reveals a tactile, material quality. When turned on, the irregularities come to life, transforming the sphere into a small, luminous volume, characterized by continuous variations in brightness.

Diffused Light and Shadow Play

Par 18 uses a very low-voltage COB LED source, located inside the sphere. The light passes through the transparent glass and is fragmented by the irregular texture. In addition to producing diffused lighting, the lamp thus casts a pattern of shadows on the surface towards which it is directed. By pointing the sphere toward the wall, a more focused accent light can be achieved. By pointing it upward, the ceiling becomes a reflective surface and contributes to the overall diffusion of brightness. The brass joint integrated into the base allows for extensive adjustment of the diffuser: rotation up to 350° on the horizontal axis, tilt up to 90° on the vertical axis. This freedom of movement allows you to direct the light towards a surface, a wall, the ceiling, or a decorative element.
