The In Vitro Wall lamp by Flos interprets outdoor lighting with a minimalist, technical, and poetic presence. Designed by Philippe Starck, it draws inspiration from the archetype of the contemporary lantern, transforming the light source into a transparent volume that appears to illuminate from within. The diffused, soft, and controlled light enhances exterior walls, entrances, terraces, and pathways with architectural discretion.

Worldwide shipping
Standard shipping is free on orders from 250€ (Italy only) and applies to ground-level delivery. Worldwide shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

Design
In Vitro Wall is born from a minimalist language, in which every technical element is integrated into a pure and rigorous form. The transparent borosilicate outer glass protects the opalescent diffuser integrated into the head, creating the illusion of an empty glass body pierced by light. The wall-mounted configuration recalls the guiding function of the lantern, reinterpreted with Philippe Starck's typical design balance: a simple, refined, and functional lamp, capable of interacting with the exterior architecture without visually imposing itself.
Comfort and functionality
The integrated LED source with Edge Lighting technology generates diffused and uniform light. The opalescent diffuser softens the light output, helping to create a relaxing and enveloping atmosphere in outdoor spaces. The integrated 220–240 V power supply allows for ON/OFF control and dimming via 1-10 V or DALI systems. This flexibility allows the light intensity to be adapted to different design needs, from functional lighting for passageways and entrances to softer, more decorative lighting scenarios.
Materials and durability
The structure is made of extruded and die-cast aluminum, treated with a chemical conversion process and finished with a powder coating. This process makes the lamp suitable for outdoor use, preserving its aesthetics, stability, and technical quality over time. The external borosilicate safety glass ensures protection and transparency, while the integrated opalescent diffuser ensures a balanced and comfortable light distribution.
