Brutalist Outdoor Table

Design

Brutalist Outdoor is a direct evolution of the Brutalist table designed for interiors. Giampiero Tagliaferri preserves the collection's fundamental principle and translates it through materials specifically chosen for the outdoor environment. The project thus brings together two distinctly different components: the mass of the concrete base and the warm surface of natural teak. Their juxtaposition creates a table with a strong identity, in which each material clearly retains its own distinct nature.

Sculptural Concrete Base

The base is made of concrete and features a distinctive irregular star-shaped design. Its material presence gives the table solidity and a strong connection to the outdoor space. The different directions generated by the supports create a dynamic composition, capable of changing perception depending on the vantage point. The base thus becomes a small sculptural architecture around which the entire project is organized.

A balance of solids and voids

Despite using a visually striking material like concrete, Brutalist Outdoor avoids a monolithic appearance. The complex design of the base creates alternating solids and voids, allowing natural light to pass through the structure and generating continuous variations throughout the day. In outdoor spaces, this effect takes on particular relevance: the shadows change with the movement of the sun, making the base an ever-changing presence. The mass of the concrete is thus balanced by an open and dynamic geometry.

Solid natural teak top

In contrast to the mineral base, the top is made of solid teak with a natural finish. The wood adds warmth, tactility, and a more welcoming feel, softening the severity of the underlying structure. The natural tones of teak interact with the materiality of concrete, allowing the table to blend harmoniously into terraces, gardens, and patios featuring stone, vegetation, and natural surfaces. The slatted top accentuates the outdoor character of the design. The regular succession of wooden elements introduces a linear rhythm that contrasts with the freer, more irregular design of the base. The upper surface thus appears orderly and rigorous, while the base develops a more sculptural geometry. This interplay between different languages ​​allows the table to maintain a strong architectural presence without appearing overly severe.
